PULPDENT® Corporation has published an expanded version of the ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE white paper complete with new scientific findings and updated product information. The revised white paper also shows new clinical cases for the recently launched ACTIVA™ KIDS and ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-CEMENT.
Bioactive materials stimulate apatite formation at the material-tooth interface and offer a host of benefits for dentists and their patients. ACTIVA™ products nourish teeth through a process called remineralization that rebuilds, seals and protects teeth.
Scanning electron microscope (SEM) imaging and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) of ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-CEMENT after 21 days in saline show increases in calcium and phosphorous ions and decreases in carbon and silica ions, indicating the formation of mineral apatite deposits on the tooth surface.
The ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE whitepaper also discusses recent data on the distinctive physical properties of ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-RESTORATIVE.
According to several studies, ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-RESTORATIVE’s volume wear is comparable to composites and significantly less than RMGIs. In terms of surface wear resistance, ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE RESTORATIVE performed better than glass ionomers, RMGIs and flowable composites.
